Prayer of the Week

God, I work to direct my anger where it belongs.
Not at me, an innocent child,
but at the one who stole my innocence.
God, this anger spills into so many areas of my life.
Sometimes it hits only the safest targets.
Me, or the people I love,
or you.

God, it is so hard to put this anger where it belongs,
the place that feels unsafest of all.

God help me direct my anger where it belongs,
and then let its white heat purify me
and let its truth redeem me
and let its justice transform me
that I may be renewed and that I may be set free.
